About SoundMind Quest
Mental health care grounded in the hope of Jesus Christ
Our Mission
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
— 2 Timothy 1:7
SoundMind Quest exists to connect Christians struggling with mental health challenges to compassionate, qualified care that honors both the reality of mental illness and the transforming hope found in Jesus Christ.
We reject the false dichotomy that says you must choose between faith and professional care. Mental health struggles are real medical conditions that often require professional treatment, and the gospel offers genuine hope, comfort, and healing.
Our Approach
Medical Reality
We affirm that depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health conditions are real medical issues that often require professional treatment, medication, or therapy.
Spiritual Truth
We believe the gospel offers genuine hope, that God is near to the brokenhearted, and that Christ's love can sustain us through the darkest valleys.
Both/And Integration
We connect people to Christian counselors who integrate sound clinical practice with biblical wisdom—rejecting both "just pray more" and secular-only approaches.
Compassionate Care
We treat mental health struggles with the same seriousness as physical illness, offering compassion without judgment and hope without toxic positivity.
What We Believe
Mental Health Struggles Are Real
Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other conditions are not "just spiritual problems." They involve complex interactions of biology, psychology, and circumstances. Seeking professional help is wise, not a sign of weak faith.
God Is Near to the Brokenhearted
The Psalms are filled with honest lament. God does not condemn us for struggling or ask us to pretend we're okay when we're not. He invites us to bring our whole selves— including our pain—to Him.
The Gospel Offers Genuine Hope
Christ's death and resurrection mean that suffering is not the end of the story. While we may struggle in this life, we have an eternal hope that cannot be shaken. This doesn't erase present pain, but it can sustain us through it.
Professional Help Is a Gift from God
Counselors, therapists, psychiatrists, and medications are tools God can use for healing—just as He uses doctors and medicine for physical illness. Seeking help is an act of stewardship, not a lack of faith.
Community Is Essential
We were not meant to struggle alone. The church should be a place of compassion and support—not judgment—for those facing mental health challenges. We connect people to support groups, peer mentors, and caring communities.
